Capannina
The “Capannina” system is the first structure designed forprotecting plants from hail. Due to its higher height, comparedto flat systems and bungee systems, its use is recommendedfor orchards with bigger trees. The high slope of the net promotes the discharge of hail to the center of the row, reducing the loads that the structure must support and thus reducing the risk of collapses. In recent years, the flat-net system has often been preferred to Capannina system, because of lower construction and maintenance costs. Capannina system is built with pre-stressed concrete posts at a distance of about 8-10 meters and with a height above ground of more than 4 m. It differs from the flat structure for having the tran- sversal rope placed under the net and fixed to the posts through a rope block band. It is also possible to apply on all crossbeams a Comavit plus zinc-aluminum wire of 3 mm diameter to form trusses fixed to the lower transverse rope. Capannina system can also get an extra reinforcement with a second transverse rope, that is fixed to the post caps like in the flat-net system. In this case the structure is called reinforced Capannina.
