Flat structure

The “flat-net” hail protection structure is currently the most widely used type of system for protecting crops from hail damage. Its construction, in addition to being simple, is also the most cost-effective. The system’s opening and shutting mechanism also requires less time, which lowers labor costs. The system is built using pre-stressed concrete posts placed approximately 8 meters apart and standing approximately 4 meters above ground level. It is generally recommended to not exceed a surface load of 32 square meters per post. The posts are connected longitudinally and transversely with galvanized wires and ropes that are directly fastened to anchors distributed around the perimeter of the structure. The Comavit post cap, equipped with the “Optional” mounting kit, is instellad on top of the posts by pressure. The optional lateral fixation with a locking screw is also available. The net is placed above the top wire and the transverse rope runs above the net. In case of exceptional hailstorms, an excessive weight load may be placed on the entire structure due to the hail’s poor discharge capacity. For this reason, this system is recommended for orchard with a row spacing that does not exceed 4 m. To speed up the opening and closing operations of the net, thus reducing labor costs, it is recommended the use of the Comavit PL-ACRETE plate, which has a quick release mechanism that can be quickly triggered with one hand.
